NFL Playoffs Round 2 Matchups Game 1 Ari NO

MY PICK: Arizona

In a game that could end up with a score that resembles a womens basketball game (mid 50s), I could not be tempted more than to pick Arizona because of experience. Warner loves turf, loves being the underdog, and loves surprising us. I understand that the two teams average almost the same points per game given up as a defense. I understand that Arizona averages almost a touchdown less than the saints this season. I understand that Drew Brees was the second best player in the league this year. I understand that its in New Orleans. Listen, i get it. but i am on the warner train. No doubt in my mind that warner is the better QB this time of year. disagree all you want and i get it. but the saints have not impressed me after october. Their win in washington was a fluke, they shouldnt of had a chance in dallas (at HOME). the lost to arguably the second worst team in the nfl (Tampa) at home the next week. and followed all of that up by a dismantling in carolina (another garbage team). I know they had nothing to play for, but thats not the point. The bad taste in their mouth will linger. it will affect them. they havent been winners in a month. the NFC champs havent won in a MONTH!!! the cards just came off an emotional and intense victory over a VERY GOOD packers team. do they look good? your god damn right they do. final score cards 30 saints 20. i dont expect the score to fly that high because the defenses are ready to make a stand. the Cards will stop brees just enough to take the game and advance

  1. Pick: Arizona (We agree again(this will stop soon))!!

For many of the reasons stated above, I believe Arizona will go into New Orleans and come out with the W. Whether New Orleans shut it down the last few weeks of the season like Indy or whether they happened to peak at the wrong time is unknown at this point.

I can't believe I'm writing this but Arizona has toughness and playoff experience. I believe this will be huge for them in this game. Many may point to the fact that New Orleans has home field advantage but is that really a big deal? Last week two of four road teams won and in recent years there have been a number of road teams that have gone far in the playoffs.

New Orleans also lost their last two home games to Dallas and Tampa. Going into the playoffs with three straight loses is a troubling sign which is why I'm going with Arizona in a high scoring game:

    Arizona 45
    New Orleans 31

  2. I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you guys on this one. Yes, NO has lost the last 3 games straight, but that doesn't mean it will leave a bad taste in their mouth...it will leave a taste for blood.

NO had such an outstanding season, they know how to win, 13-3. Everybody knows what Brees is capable of, especially in the dome, and to say that home field advantage doesn’t matter is very debatable. NO's fans are going to be fired up for this, and the city wants a championship more than Arizona I believe.

I agree, Arizona's playoff experience is better, but that doesn't guarantee a win by any means. Yes, Kurt Warner is a great quarterback and Arizona is a great team, but my money is on New Orleans.

It is going to be a great showdown between these two teams, NO by 6.

  3. this is stupid, NO will come out with the win. Drew Brees is too damn good and now the saints will actually start focusing against a defense that gives up the big play more frequently than they should. is that cates by the way? i fucking miss you man.

  4. I pick N'Orleans solely based on that picture next to the initial blog post...

Kardashian's ass scores three touchdowns and then Bush pulls a Ray-J on a Punt Return...

Over/Under # of times the announcers mention Katrina: 6

  5. I will take the over on this one Lick. I can already hear it now "THIS CITY HAS BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP." Which city hasn't? Besides Pittsburgh, every city has been waiting a long time. I am sick of hearing that "this city rally's behind its football here in New Orleans!" One must assume that because it is their football team. Here's the big question. Can New Orleans overcome the hype and emotion of this game and just play football? They have been on vacation for an entire month and the Cards come in to New Orleans with a full head of steam. Step aside Reggie, LT has better moves, and Kourtney is the hotter Kardashian.
